[1] Valorization of Oily Sludge from Petroleum Industries [ December 2022 to October 2023]
Project Title: Valorization of oily sludge from petroleum industries based on bubbling fluidised bed pyrolysis
Institution: Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur
Industry Partner: GAIL (India) Limited, Pata
Role: Senior Project Engineer
Overview: This project focuses on the conversion of oily sludge from petroleum industries into valuable products through bubbling fluidised bed pyrolysis. The aim was to explore sustainable waste management techniques and develop processes for transforming industrial waste into fuels and chemicals.
Key contributions included designing, testing, and optimising a bubbling fluidised bed reactor setup to ensure efficient sludge valorisation, contributing to cleaner industrial processes and reducing environmental hazards.
[2] Assessment of Biomass Sources and Conversion Pathways for Emission Reduction in Iron and Steel Production
Project Title: Assessment of biomass sources and conversion pathways for reducing the emissions in iron and steel production and co-products in an integrated biorefinery concept
Institution: Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru
Industry Partner: CSIRO Clayton, Victoria, Melbourne 3052 Australia.
Role: Post-Doctoral Research Fellow
Overview: This project aimed to evaluate various biomass sources and thermochemical conversion methods for reducing emissions in the iron and steel industry. The project explored pathways to mitigate carbon emissions and produce valuable co-products such as biofuels and chemicals by integrating sustainable biomass utilisation into an industrial biorefinery concept.
Key contributions included assessing the efficiency of biomass gasification, pyrolysis, and other thermochemical processes for potential integration into steel production facilities, aligning with sustainability goals and reducing the environmental footprint of the industry.
